University of Kerala – Poor Students Scholarship 2010

Introduction:


In 1957, the Kerala University Act, Act 14 of 1957, was brought into force and the University of Travancore was renamed University of Kerala. The University had three campuses located in three different parts of the State viz. Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam and Kozhikode. In 1968, the University Centre at Kozhikode became a full -fledged University covering the Colleges and Departments located in Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode and Kannur Districts of Kerala. The Cochin University of Science and Technology and the Kerala Agricultural University were set up in 1971 and in 1983, the Mahatma Gandhi University was established. With the establishment of these Universities, the area of the jurisdiction of the University of Kerala has been limited to Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha Districts and some parts of Pathanamthitta District.

How To Apply:


1. Application forms can be had from the Director of Student Services, University Students Centre, PMG Jn., Vikas Bhavan.P.O, Trivandrum on payment of Rs.2/- each. The Principal/HOD shall forward a request stating their required number of application forms along with the cash receipt from University Cash Counter/Friends or DD drawn in favour of Director of Student Services.
2. The students who apply for financial assistance under Students Aid Fund shall produce Income Certificate of their parents from authorities not below the rank of Village Officer.
3. Photostat copies of application forms will not be accepted.
4. The application for request of financial assistance shall be forwarded through the Principal of the College/Head of the Department of the University.
5. The application for request of financial assistance should be addressed to Director, University Students Centre, PMG Jn., Vikas Bhavan.P.O, Trivandrum -33.
6. The prescribed application forms shall reach the Director of Student Services on or before 30th November of the concerned year.

Andhra Pradesh Pre and Post Matric 2010 Scholarship

Introduction:

Andhra Pradesh State Minorities Finance Corporation Limited has been incorporated under the Companies Act, 1956 in the year 1985. The main objective is to assist the weaker sections of Minorities viz; Muslims, Sikhs, Buddhists and Parsis for their socio-economic development in collaboration with Banks and Corporation provides Subsidy and interest Subsidy. The Source of funding for the corporate is from Government of Andhra Pradesh and National Minorities Development and Finance Corporation, New Delhi.

POST and PRE MATRIC SCHOLARSHIP 2010-11

Eligibility : Student pursuing studies from class XI to Ph.D including Technical and Vocational courses.

Annual income of Parent/Guardians from all sources does not exceed Rs.2.00 Lakh.

Secured not less than 50% marks in the previous final examination (No back logs in any academic year).

Maulana Azad National Scheme Scholarship for Girl Students Belonging to Minorities 2010, India

Introduction:


Maulana Azad Education Foundation was established on the occasion of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s birth centenary. The Foundation was registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860, on 6th July, 1989. The Foundation is a voluntary non-political, non-profit marking social service organization established to promote education amongst the educationally backward
sections of the society. It is funded by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India. The Hon’ble Minister of Minority Affairs is its Ex-officio President. The aim of the Foundation is to formulate and implement educational schemes and plans for the benefit of the educationally backward minorities in particular and weaker sections in general.

Objective:
To recognize, promote and assist meritorious Girl students belonging to National Minorities who can not continue their education without financial support.

Purpose of Scholarship:


Scholarship will be admissible for expenditure on payment of School/College Fee, purchase of syllabus books, purchase of stationery/equipments required for the course & payment of Boarding/Lodging charges.


Eligibility:


1. Only Girl Students belonging to National Minorities, (i.e. Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Sikhs, Parsis) can apply :
2. Should have secured not less than 55% marks (in aggregate) in the secondary school certificate examination (Class xth) conducted by any recognized Centre/State Board of Secondary Education. The List of 33 recognized Boards/Councils is given in Annexure-III. This is only qualifying percentage for applying and does not guarantee grant of scholarship which is given to the top eligible applicant based on the quota fixed for the concerned state from amongst the eligible application received from the state.
3. Family income of the student from all sources should be less than Rs. 1,00,000/- (Rupees one lakh only) in the preceding financial year:
(a) In case of salaried class, the student must indicate the designation, pay-scale, basic pay and other allowances alongwith total gross & take home emoluments of the parent/guardian. A mere statement saying “Service” will not be acceptable. The student must attach a Salary Certificate or Pension Certificate (in case of retired persons), duly authenticated by controlling authority, of her parent/guardian alongwith the application.
(b) In case of agriculture/horticulture etc., the students has to mention total land holding with details of irrigated and non-irrigated and other landed property owned by her family alongwith total income of the family. These details will also be mentioned in the affidavit of the parent/guardian (Annexure-II) as well as in the certificate from Revenue authority.
(c) In case of business class, the student must categorically state the name & type of the business alongwith the total turn over and the total income of family. The same details will also be stated in the Affidavit (Annexure-II) from her parent/ guardian.
(d) Income form all other sources must also be mentioned, specially if mother is also employed.
(e) It must be noted that all income certificate and statements made by the students in the application is subject to further verification of Maulana Azad Education Foundation. In case of any deliberate discrepancy/concealment of facts, the MAEF may cancel/recover the scholarship granted/released as well as initiate necessary action as per law.
(f) The income certificate/affidavit (Annexure-II) must be from the parents/guardian’s side and should have been issued from the respective home station. The income certificate issued or affidavit made from the place where the student is studying, as against the home station, will NOT be acceptable (in case of photocopy, it should be attested by Gazetted Officer or Head of Institution).
4. Should have Confirmed admission in class-XI. Admission Slip issued by the college/ school where the student is presently studying and verification of the principal (Annexure-I), in the prescribed proforma must be sent with the application.
5. The University/College/Institute offering admission should be recognized by the Government at the Central or State level or any other competent authority.
6. It is one time scholarship, and no claim as permanent beneficiary will be entertained. Student once selected for scholarship can not avail the same again.
7. A student getting a scholarship from any other source would not be eligible for this Scholarship.
8. The scholarship is given to student passing Xth exam and taking admission in XIth in the year when result of Xth exam is declared. Applications received in subsequent years will not be entertained.

Amount:
The amount of Scholarship will be Rs. 12,000/- (Rupees twelve thousand only) which will be released in two installments of Rs. 6,000/- each. The first installment will be released after sanction of scholarship and the second installment will be released when the student will submit proof of passing class XIth, and adminsson to Class XIIth in the office of the Foundation.

Fulbright-Nehru Master’s Fellowships for Leadership Development in United states-India Educational Foundation 2010,India

Introduction:

The Fulbright-Nehru Master’s Fellowships for Leadership Development are designed for outstanding young Indians to pursue a master’s degree program at selected U.S. colleges and universities in the areas of Arts and Culture Management including Heritage Conservation and Museum Studies, Business Administration, Communication Studies, Conflict Resolution, Economics, Environment, Public Administration, Urban and Regional Planning, and Women’s Studies.  The program is for highly motivated individuals who demonstrate leadership qualities, have completed the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree, have at least three years professional work experience, and are committed to return and contribute to their communities. These fellowships are for one to two years.

Eligibility Requirements:

In addition to the General Prerequisites, the applicants should:
1. have completed an equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree from a recognized Indian university with at least 55% marks. Applicants should either possess a four-year bachelor’s degree or a completed master’s degree, if the bachelor’s degree is of less than four years’ duration;
2. have at least three years’ full time (paid or voluntary) professional or work experience relevant to their proposed field of study;
3. demonstrate experience in leadership and community service;
4. should not have another degree from a U.S. university or be enrolled in a US degree program; and
5. preferably be in the age group of 25-30 years

Grant Benefits: The fellowship will provide the following benefits:
1. J-1 visa support;
2. Round-trip airfare from fellow’s home city to the host institution in the US;
3. Funding for tuition and fees*, living and related costs; and
4. Accident and sickness coverage per U.S. Government guidelines.
* USIEF funding may not cover all costs and the scholar may need to supplement grant benefits with other resources.
The Fulbright-Nehru Master’s Fellowship program provides no financial support for dependents.

IELTS Scholarship India 2010

Introduction:

The British Council is delighted to announce the launch of the British Council IELTS Scholarship for Indian students planning to study at universities overseas. In line with its mission to promote the global sharing of knowledge and ideas, the British Council will select eight students from India, each of whom will receive an award of Rs.3,00,000 towards the cost of tuition fees.

Essential eligibility criteria are that applicants must:

  • Be a citizen of India.
  • Begin full time postgraduate study outside India in 2010.
  • Attend a higher education institution that accepts IELTS as part of its admission requirements.
  • Have a valid IELTS score, with a minimum band score average 6.5.
  • Have taken their most recent IELTS test with the British Council.
  • Be able to provide an acceptance letter from the attending institution by 20 August 2010.
