Kauffman Dissertation Fellowship Program

The Kauffman Dissertation Fellowship Program is an annual competitive program that awards up to fifteen Dissertation Fellowship grants of $20,000 each to Ph.D., D.B.A., or other doctoral students at accredited U.S. universities to support dissertations in the area of entrepreneurship.

Dhirubhai Ambani Rural Entrepreneurship – Young Professionals Programme’11

The DARE YP Program is a starting point for an exciting career in the Reliance Foundation. The Programme is designed for providing an opportunity to outstanding young and motivated professionals, who have demonstrated a commitment to development, supported by academic success, professional achievement and potential for leadership.

The programme intends to train them to play a role in transformation of “Bharat”- the rural India. The Programme recruits through a highly selective and competitive process and then facilitates their rapid integration into the Reliance Foundation’s business and culture.

If you are selected to join as DARE Young Professional, your assignment will be enriched through on-the-job learning, specialized training, sustainable agriculture development assignment, and mentoring. It is an opportunity to experience development and gain exposure to rural India with an opportunity to participate hands on.

Who can apply?

  1. Be an Indian citizen of not more than 26 years of age at the time of application
  2. The minimum qualifications needed for the DARE YP Programme are a Post Graduate degree or equivalent in one of the following courses or more at the time of submitting application:

M. Sc / M. Tech  in Agriculture, Agriculture Engineering, Horticulture, Plant Biology, Agronomy, Environment Science & Tech, Agri. Bio-technology, Forestry, Sericulture, Agribusiness Economics and Policy, Agribusiness Environment, Farm Engineering Industry, Hi-Tech Agriculture, farm machinery & power engg, irrigation & drainage engg, post harvest process engg, soil & water conservation, natural resource management or a related course

OR

Degree with Post Graduation in Rural development/Rural management/Forest Management/ Social Work/ Development Management or a related course

The university / institution of this post graduate course have to be from one of the following states:

Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Orissa, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Rajasthan

  1. A work experience between 24 to 36 months at the time of application

Selection process

DARE YPs are chosen through an intensive and rigorous selection process involving written tests, group discussions, OBT and personal interviews focusing as much on technical skills as much as social attitudes. Interested candidates may also apply to training and placement cell of their respective universities.

Compensation & benefits to a DARE YP:

DARE YPs will receive the existing package of stipend for the ongoing internship programs of Reliance Industries Ltd.  The compensation for all the selected DARE YPs will be Rs.3.0 lakhs/annum for the year 2011-12.

After successful completion of training they will be absorbed as Field Executive in Mission BIJ of Reliance Foundation. This placement will be subject to a bond of Rs.2 lakhs/ DARE YP for two more subsequent years.

GLOBAL HEALTH CORPS 2011-2012 FELLOWSHIPS NOW AVAILABLE!

Global Health Corps (GHC) believes that a global movement of individuals and organizations fighting for improved health outcomes and access to healthcare for the poor is necessary in order to change the unacceptable status quo of extreme inequity. GHC works to strengthen this movement by recruiting, training, and supporting the movement’s future leaders, diversifying the pool of young people working in global health, and amplifying the impact of individuals through the formation of a strong community of leaders.

GHC provides opportunities for young professionals from diverse backgrounds to work on the frontlines of the fight for global health equity in year-long fellowships. Our fellows have a measurable impact on the health of the communities in which they work, and draw upon that experience and the GHC alumni network to deepen their impact throughout their careers.

GHC will create a pipeline of young leaders for the global health equity movement, and at scale will play a central role in sustaining and consistently reinvigorating this movement for change. This infusion of young, passionate, skilled leaders will help to tip the balance towards a more equitable and just global distribution of health services.

Eligibility

Global Health Corps Fellows must:

  • Be under age 30 at the time of application
  • Have an undergraduate university degree by July 2011
  • Be proficient in English

No specific background or technical experience is necessary, as each individual fellowship placement will require different specific skills. Review the fellowship placement descriptions (posted February 1st) to learn about the specific assignments and the skills that our placement organizations are looking for.

For all Fellowships, we value three qualities: strength of character, relevant skills and experience, and leadership.

Fellowship placements for the 2011-12 fellowship year are offered in Burundi, Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, and the USA. For each placement, two fellows will be selected: One in-country fellow (citizen of the placement country), and one international fellow (US citizens for placements in Africa; any non-US citizen for placements in the US).

IIT Madras Summer Fellowship 2011

The IITM ‐ Summer Fellowship Programme of two months with stipend is designed to enhance awareness and interest in high quality academic research among young Engineering, Management, Sciences and Humanities students through a goal oriented summer mini project undertaken at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras.

Eligibility:

Candidates pursuing third year of B. E./B. Tech./B. Sc. (Engg)/Integrated M. E./M. Tech. programme, first  year of  ME/M. Tech/M. Sc./M. A, MBA with outstanding academic  background  in terms of high ranks in university examinations are encouraged to apply, highlighting their academic performance and achievement including papers presented at seminars, projects executed, design contests participated, score/rank in Mathematics Olympiad and any other awards/distinctions obtained. Period of the Project: The contact period for the project  will be two months normally during 16th May ‐ 15th July 2011. However  depending on the convenience, the selected candidates can undertake the project at any time subject to the availability of faculty.

Stipend:

A sum of Rs. 6,500/‐ (maximum) will be given as a stipend for a total period of 2 months.

The Young India Fellowship (YIF)

The Young India Fellowship (YIF) seeks to groom young women and men who will lead India through the 21st century. The YIF will bring together 50 emerging leaders from around India in a one-year residential post-graduate programme in our nation’s capital.

The Post graduate programme is open to:

* Students who are in the final year of their undergraduate degree.
* Students who have completed their undergraduate degree and have worked for not more than two years.
* Students who are in the final year of the post graduate programme provided that they enrolled in the programme immediately after completing their undergraduate degree.
* There is no restriction with respect to the area of specialization at the undergraduate level.
* There is no restriction with respect to the medium of instruction (English, Hindi, regional language) that the student has been exposed to, at the school level. However, she/he should be able to converse, read and write in English given that the medium of instruction at the YIF programme is English.

Selection Criteria:

* Demonstrated talent in the domain of their interest
* Demonstrated passion to learn things beyond the prescribed curriculum
* Past academic record, both at the school and college level
* Involvement and achievement in extra curricular activities
* Performance in interviews, tests and recommendation

Grassroutes Fellowship Program 2011

Grassroutes is a fellowship for urban educated youth to spend a summer working with change-makers and social entrepreneurs, who are creating sustainable, significant impact in different  parts of the country. During their stay, the fellows work on a pre-defined project and in addition, don the role of social journalists – researching, understanding and capturing unheard stories from the grassroots – of people, places, challenges, solutions, hope and above all, the impact that individuals can create.

Eligibility:

1. The Fellowship is open only to Indian nationals between the age of 18 and 25 as of 1st March, 2011.
2. Applicants are required to dedicate 30 days in June 2011.
3. Applicants must be willing to live in a challenging setting (rural or semi-urban) and work with change-makers in those settings.
4. Applicants should travel to Bangalore for the Day Zero on 28th and 29th of May 2011.

IDEX Fellowship in Social Enterprise

The IDEX Fellowship in Social Enterprise is a unique 9-month, paid, early entry, professional development program for post-graduates interested in the field of social enterprise. Managed by Oglethorpe University with support from Gray Matters Capital of Atlanta, fellows work alongside social enterprise leaders who serve low-income communities to develop a blueprint for change.

Fellows then execute that practical plan within the enterprise. The combination of ideas and execution is transformational for both the enterprise and the fellow. DEX Fellows are based in India as consultants to a social enterprise in the low-income education sector(Affordable Private Schools), where they work to understand the socio-economic issues and test models to help solve these issues.

The IDEX Fellowship is open to graduating seniors and those who have graduated from an accredited university/college, having no more than two years of work experience. Candidates who meet the following will be given preference:

• Academic or work experience in business, economics, development, education, or related fields

• Demonstrated leadership while in university

• High academic success • Interested in development or social enterprise solutions

• International travel experience

• Interest in entering the field of social entrepreneurship/enterprise IDEX

Fellows are selected based on their ability to:

Introduction:

RBI YOUNG SCHOLARS AWARD SCHEME 2011

Introduction:

To encourage learning about the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) among the youth of the country, the RBI conducts a major awareness and sensitization exercise on the role of the RBI and the banking system across the country. This exercise, `RBI Young Scholars Award Scheme` exposes youngsters to an actual banking and financial environment and inculcates a sense of pride in the selected ones of having had the opportunity to associate themselves with a prestigious organization, the central bank of the country.

Eligibility:

(A) Educational Qualification: All students across India who have completed 10 + 2 years of formal education or its equivalent from recognized institutions/boards in 2010 or before and are currently pursuing their undergraduate studies. However, those having enrolled for or having acquired degree(s) higher than graduation will not be eligible. Candidates who have qualified and worked at RBI as a Young Scholar in any of the previous years are not eligible to apply again.
(B) Age: Candidates should be of age 18 years or more but less than 23 years as on September 1, 2010

Exam Details:

The entrance exam will be conducted in English, Hindi and 11 other regional languages. The regional languages will be Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. The exam will be held at around 100 different locations spread all across the country.
The examination will be of objective type with multiple choices for answers. The paper will be of approximately 90 minutes duration and will have questions related to role and functioning of the RBI, the trend of banking industry in India and general economic and financial environment of the country.

About IIRS:

Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), formerly known as Indian Photo-Interpretation Institute (IPI), was set up in 1966 under the aegis of the Survey of India to provide comprehensive training with hands on experience of the emerging technology.
Applications are invited from the interested candidates fulfilling the following norms and having aptitude to carry out
research work at NRSC, Hyderabad

Fellowship amount:

Rs.12,000/- plus HRA 30%. Degree(s) mentioned for the fellowships in this advertisement means FIRST CLASS DEGREES ONLY i.e. from B.Sc. onwards with good academic record. In case of M.E./M.Tech/M.Sc./B.E/B.Tech the candidates should possess First Class with not less than 65% of marks (average of all semesters) or CGPA/CPI grading of 6.5 on 10 scale or equivalent from B.Tech/B.E./M.Sc. onwards.

General Conditions:

(1) Age for all the fellowships should not be more than 30 years as on the last date of receipt of Applications. Age relaxations to SC/ST/OBC/PWD will be admissible as per rules.

(2) Candidates working in Government / Public Sector Undertakings / Autonomous Organisations should apply through proper channel.
