Lee Kuan Yew Global Business Plan Competition 2011

Welcome to the sixth biennial Lee Kuan Yew Global Business Plan Competition, named after Singapore’s Minister Mentor, widely acknowledged as a thinker and a global visionary.

Organised specially for undergraduate, college and polytechnic students around the world, the competition continues to be a platform for entrepreneurs of tomorrow. Participants will be able to showcase their business plans and entrepreneurial talents on a global stage, attract seed funding to further their business ambitions as well as extend their network of friends and business contacts through the Competition.

Participants stand to win up to US$60,000 in cash, prizes and business development opportunities. Overseas finalists will receive 5 night hotel stay in Singapore for 2 core team members.

Eligibility:

Participants must be undergraduate, college and polytechnic students from around the world.

QPrize,Qualcomm’s Annual Business Plan Competition

Introduction:

Qualcomm’s Annual Business Plan Competition – $100,000 in Seed Fund Available for Startups

Qualcomm has announced its annual business plan competition inviting technology startups to pitch their business plan. QPrize, Qualcomm’s annual business plan competition was started in 2009 and the last year winner was Capillary Technologies (which also presented at UnPluGGd).

This year, finalists will be selected from each region (North America, Europe, China, South Korea, Israel and India) and the winner will be given $100,000 in convertible note funding plus an opportunity to compete for an additional $150,000 in the Grand Prize Competition. This year, apart from the funding money, there are other partners also which increase the total “potential” funding and support that the companies get. India regional winners get $100,000 in convertible debt (converts at the valuation of the company in the next round)

Chance to present to Mumbai angels Move to the international leg of competition Globally, Qualcomm has teamed with DEMO, the technology industry’s premier launchpad for emerging technologies, to give QPrize finalists additional exposure within the venture community.  QPrize finalists will be invited to DEMO Spring 2011 in California, USA where they will compete for the grand prize and receive an exhibit in the DEMO pavilion. The deadline for business plan submissions is December 14, 2010.

From the pool of competing entries, Qualcomm Ventures will select up to six finalists from the six contest markets.  The finalists will each receive US$100,000 (€100,000 in Europe) of convertible note funding from Qualcomm.

The grand prize winner will receive an additional US$150,000 of convertible note funding, for a total prize of US$250,000 in venture financing.  Entrants’ submitted business plans are evaluated by a panel of experts based on the merits of the technology innovation, its market potential, the company’s management capabilities and the attainability of the proposal’s financial projections.

TouchStone,Unique Sounding Board for Entrepreneurs

What is TouchStone?

Touchstone is a unique sounding board for entrepreneurs (existing and aspiring) providing them with a rapid validation and shaping platform.

How does it work?

  • Every entrepreneur submits relevant information via an online / offline form.
  • The TouchStone panel works on the information for a week to get deeper insights into the business and the challenges as highlighted by the participant
  • A 90 minute 1-1 brainstorming session follows with the entrepreneur where the issues and recommendations are discussed threadbare to shape your idea
  • After the discussion, a TouchStone report summarizing SWOT, Idea to Business Analysis, Risks, Recommendations and answers to the questions is given to the entrepreneur.

Global Entrepreneurship Challenge 2010

Introduction:

The Global Entrepreneurship Week and Kauffman Foundation is organizing a global competition for students, to celebrate the spirit of entrepreneurship. The purpose of the competition is to reward a bright student and to raise awareness of the Global Entrepreneurship Week. The Global Entrepreneurship Challenge is also an ample opportunity for a student to get international recognition for his or her ideas.

The Global Entrepreneurship challenge is a low-barrier of entry idea competition targeting students worldwide. A challenge is posed by a well known entrepreneurial profile, which the students get to answer in a simple and concise manner, in 300 words or less.

The first prize is a trip to Sweden and participation in the Goodmorning 2020 entrepreneurship conference, taking place in Stockholm on November 19. Goodmorning 2020 is Scandinavia’s largest entrepreneurship summit where roughly 600 entrepreneurs, investors, politicians and students gather to discuss how the world will look in future.

Answer the Global Entrepreneurship Challenge in 300 words or less and win a trip to Sweden!

Submissions will be judged in two phases. First, they will be peer reviewed by other users, who get to vote for the best ideas. An expert panel composed of representatives from GEW will then select the winners out of the ten works with the highest number of votes at the end of the competition period.
